Certified Canine Hydrotherapist and Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer with Golden Retriever dog

Casie Rose 2008-2022

My Story

Welcome to AZ Canine Fitness! I’m Lisa Smith, a professional & accredited CPCFT (Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer) and CCH (Certified Canine Hydrotherapist). After losing my beloved dog Casie, I have dedicated my life to honoring hers through helping other dogs improve their quality of life through physical therapy.

Casie was diagnosed with primary liver cancer and arthritis,  and given a timeline of 6-12 months to live. After the diagnosis, I researched diet, supplementation and exercises to keep Casie strong and maintain a good quality of life for her.  She loved swimming and could still manage with a life jacket and so we kept up that regimen until the very end. I saw what a difference it made to her, keeping her strong and fit and giving her some excitement in her final days and I thought that I would like to be able to offer that to other dogs.  I looked for programs in the US and not finding any that were accredited, I enrolled in a program in Australia and started the process of becoming certified in Canine Hydrotherapy.

Casie managed to live 2 years with her condition, mostly due to supplementation & diet and a multi-modal exercise and treatment program, but sadly, she passed away before I finished my certification. I finished up my testing and graduated from the program, in her honor.

At that point I wanted to learn everything that I could about how to help dogs with mobility issues due to age, weight, medical conditions, etc. and so I began a land-based Canine Fitness Trainer certification course. Now, I am a professional member of the CPCFT Worldwide (Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer) and the IAAMB/ACWT (International Association of Animal Massage and Bodyworks/Association of Canine Water Therapy – Certified Canine Hydrotherapist). I am also a fear free certified professional.

We would love to meet you and your dog and see how we can work together to reach your goals and help your dog live their happiest and healthiest life!
